Sports
One of the more recent efforts by the foundation has been providing funding for youth sports, including equipment, uniforms, and training, creating pathways to play where there had been none. Part of the focus is also ensuring girls have the same opportunities in sports that boys have in what has been traditionally a male-dominated society.
Through sports, the children often learn life lessons that translate into better outcomes in school and in their daily lives. For many children in the communities we serve, it is the first time they have ever put on a uniform to play organized sports. With the opportunity also comes the responsibility to maintain good grades and positive attitudes in order to participate. Teachers have reported that the desire for participation in the sports program has made students behave in class and apply themselves to schoolwork as nothing had before.
